If queried, exclude any notional years added to length of tires in<br />

scheme to adjust for rights transferred from another scheme (see<br />

note (ii) at Qs. 20 <strong>and</strong> 21), or bscause the informant has bouqht<br />

extra years or had them added on by the employer, in order to<br />

increase ths eventual pens ion.<br />

Mergers/Take overs: If the informant already worked for an<br />

employer a“d a uerger/take over took place - if the informant was<br />

not in a sche~ or there was no scheme prior to the merger, Q15<br />

should bs coded 2 ‘join later’ . Q16 should relate to when the<br />

informant joined the scheme. However, if the informant belonged to<br />

a scheme, then was transferred to a new scheme when the firm was<br />

taken over, Q15/ 16 should relate to whenever the informant joined<br />

the original scheme.<br />

(Remembsr that merge~ /takeovers do not count as new employers <strong>and</strong><br />

Q9 should relate to when the informant joined the original<br />

employer ).<br />
