Third Party Administrators (TPA)<br />
I.4.6.4 During the year 2011-12, no new TPA license<br />
was granted by the Authority. The Authority has<br />
received some applications for new license, which are<br />
at various stages of processing. The TPA licenses<br />
renewed by the Authority during 2011-12 are given in<br />
Table I.48.<br />
I.4.6.5 The health insurance segment showed strong<br />
growth during the year and the premium serviced by<br />
TPAs also increased significantly. The TPAs expanded<br />
the reach of the hospitals across the country by adding<br />
new hospitals to their network. The physical presence<br />
of TPAs was also augmented by opening of new<br />
branches at new locations by many TPAs during the<br />
year. Further, the claim settlement performance of the<br />
TPAs witnessed improvement during the year 2011-12.<br />
I.4.6.6 The Authority maintains a separate system of<br />
handling grievances in respect of TPAs from<br />
policyholders, providers and other stakeholders.<br />
