THOSE WHO HUNGER AND THIRST FOR JUSTICE 149century. Life for a Palestinian living in the Occupied Territories has been that of a concentration campvictim, knowing that he or she lives under a sentence of death, and who must wait out the minutes andhours of this nightmare until that fateful number comes up. Every waking moment, the Palestinian asksthe question “Is this my day, or is it the day for someone I love?” And in the moments right before fallingasleep, the question “Will this be the sleep that brings me to my eternal rest?”As far as the gangsters of the Zionist mafia are concerned, all of the bases have been covered, and thisevent can be said to have been the near-perfect crime. Not only have those who boldly assert that they arethe apple of God’s eye mass-murdered over 200,000 people as a tribute to Cain, the first murderer and thefounding father of their ideological experiment called the state of Israel, but in addition, in the interests ofhonoring him and his infamous attempt to lie about his evil deed, they have cloaked this blood sacrificein the whorish garments of untruth and disinformation. In the midst of this nightmare, Amir’s oppressorshave rubbed salt into the gaping wound known as the Zionist Occupation by virtue of the fact that theyhave held in perfect totalitarian fashion all the mechanisms of dispensing information into the collectiveintellect of the Western world. The situation produced by such a stranglehold has been one of the greatestcauses of the hopelessness that pervades the lives of those living in the Middle East today, and has beenone of the most important reasons for the cycle of violence that seems to be unbreakable. Such it has beenthat by the time Amir and others like him are able to take the stand and argue their case before what theyhad hoped was a fair-minded world, the jury pool had already been thoroughly tainted and corrupted bythe poison of the Zionist propaganda machine. In such a situation, all the arguments they would makeover the course of the last half-century, arguments pleading for justice and comprehension, might as wellhave been pure gibberish to the average Western Christian for all the seriousness that was afforded tothem. This scenario is reminiscent of the now infamous trials that took place in America, where therelatives of those Negroes who were the victims of lynchings, shootings, or arsons could expect no justicein a corrupted legal system run by good old boys who would fix things in favor of the thugs being tried.I must admit that initially, I myself had a hard time believing the allegations made by my friend Amir, until an article came my way, written by a former American reporter named Christopher Hedges, whodescribed what he witnessed himself in the Gaza camp where Amir lived.“It is still. And then, out of the dry furnace air, a disembodied voice crackles over a loudspeaker.“Come on, dogs,” the voice booms in Arabic. “Where are all the dogs of Khan Younis? Come! Come!”I stand up. I walk outside the hut. The invective continues to spew: “Sons of bitches! Sons of whores!”The boys dart in small packs up the sloping dunes to the electric fence that separates the camp from the Jewishsettlement. They lob rocks toward two armored jeeps parked on top of the dune and mounted with loudspeakers.Three ambulances line the road below the dunes in anticipation of what is to come.A percussion grenade explodes. The boys, most no more than ten or eleven years old, scatter, running clumsilyacross the heavy sand. They descend out of sight behind a sandbank in front of me. There are no sounds of gunfire. The soldiers shoot with silencers. The bullets from the M-16 rifles tumble end over end through the children’s slightbodies. Later, in the hospital, I will see the destruction: the stomachs ripped out, the gaping holes in limbs and torsos.Yesterday at this spot the Israelis shot eight young men, six of whom were under the age of eighteen. One wastwelve. This afternoon they kill an eleven-year-old boy, Ali Murad, and seriously wound four more, three of whomare under eighteen.
150THOSE WHO HUNGER AND THIRST FOR JUSTICEChildren have been shot in other conflicts I have covered, but I have never before watched soldiers entice children likemice into a trap and murder them for sport.”And so has the music played on and on, for nearly a century, repeating itself over and over again in thelives of those who know they are the hunted. This is the diary of a Palestinian who was sentenced todeath the moment in which he or she was born, and the story of a people who hunger and thirst forjustice. This process of rooting out the truth concerning the Palestinian/Israeli situation has been a journey througha hall of mirrors to say the least, an unsettling, de-stabilizing event that leaves the individual dizzy andfull of nausea after it takes place. When one comes to grasp the fact that a malignancy as brutal andcareless in its willingness to inflict injustice and violence upon another group of people on the basis ofrace is not only running around loose, but indeed shares a lascivious, illicit love affair with the world’smost powerful nation, well, after such a realization there is little room left for hope. Even less reason forhope is there when considering that virtually my entire nation of almost 300 million people have come toworship this beast, and that I used to be one just like them.Nevertheless, I have embarked upon the seemingly futile gesture of attempting to wake others under thisenchantment by passing on this gift that Amir has given to me. In trying to convince my fellow Christianswho know or care to know little concerning the situation in the Middle East, I will use the arguments thatmy friend has used successfully with me. Unfortunately, it rarely does any good, they simply stand thereas I used to do, haughty in their composure, a slight smirk on their faces as I flesh out a picture of what lifeis like for a Palestinian. I cannot entirely blame them, since I know that they know not what they do, andthat their position on the matter is not a product of their own doing. Their position on the matter ismerely one part of a program that has been surreptitiously installed and meticulously maintained ontheir psychological hard drives by very competent and ruthless hackers. For these individuals whoshamelessly consider themselves as being enlightened by virtue of their Christian faith, there was noindependent inquiry nor any genuine desire to know the truth that resulted in their present position onthe matter, far from it. For the last 50 years, they have been kept deliberately stupid by means of aninformational infrastructure that has defecated out Zionist propaganda on a daily basis. They and theiropinion on the matter are part of a package deal that comes with the privilege of being an Americantoday.Being an American today, and having membership in this very elite and esteemed club requires certainobligations from its members, one of which is to forfeit one’s freedom of thought and freedom of consciencein return for the badge of complacency and moral stupidity. Wearing this badge of dishonor means thatall must swear fealty to the ethos of the club, an ethos that is by no means fair or egalitarian in its application. This ethos, this pledge of loyalty can be summed up simply in its costly purchase: It is the price of thesoul, and all its most necessary components: Pity, compassion, justice, wisdom, mercy, et al. And oncethese have been forked over to the bondsman, their ownership is transferred to those who put it to theirown use and for their own interests, individuals who have no right in justice to possess them in anymanner, and who are, simply, the Zionists of the Apostle John’s Apocalyptic vision who “call themselvesJews, but are instead a synagogue of Satan”.Unbeknownst to the world, and in particular to the Christian West, this war in the Holy Land has becomethe last battle for the soul of humanity. It has become the contest between the forces of good and evil, manifesting itself in the struggle between the qualities that raise our natures to that of humans or reducethem to that of beasts. Being such a momentous event in which matters of the utmost importance are at
