2 CHAPTER 1. INTRODUCTIONIn this <strong>the</strong>sis, we report results <strong>of</strong> two deep exposure Chandra observations <strong>of</strong> <strong>ρ</strong> Oph. We firstgive brief reviews <strong>of</strong> low-<strong>mass</strong> YSOs and <strong>ρ</strong> Oph <strong>in</strong> chapters 2 and 3. Details <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Chandra satelliteand its <strong>in</strong>struments are shown <strong>in</strong> chapter 4. Chapter 5 describes <strong>the</strong> method <strong>of</strong> data analysis andgives source catalogues. Comments on some <strong>in</strong>terest<strong>in</strong>g sources are shown <strong>in</strong> chapter 6. Then wediscuss overall X-<strong>ray</strong> properties <strong>of</strong> YSOs <strong>in</strong> chapter 7. We fur<strong>the</strong>r put particular emphasis on <strong>the</strong>irflare activity and predict <strong>the</strong> evolution <strong>of</strong> X-<strong>ray</strong> activity on YSOs as shown <strong>in</strong> chapter 8. F<strong>in</strong>ally,chapter 9 gives a brief summary.
