learning etc.<br />
How many people will visit the attracti<strong>on</strong> <strong>and</strong> where will they come from?<br />
These two questi<strong>on</strong>s indicate that a number of factors determine the size of the visitor<br />
market. They are:<br />
• The populati<strong>on</strong> of the catchment area<br />
• The number of visitors currently visiting the area<br />
• The competitors in the area which attract similar market segments<br />
• The scale <strong>and</strong> nature of the attracti<strong>on</strong> itself<br />
When will the visitors come?<br />
It is important to match the dem<strong>and</strong> with supply, ie manpower, carry capacity, facilities<br />
<strong>and</strong> services etc. The following two dimensi<strong>on</strong>s have to be assessed, namely:<br />
• Seas<strong>on</strong>ality<br />
• Number of visitors from the local area vs number of tourists
