Problems at attracti<strong>on</strong>s can be classified into the following two types:<br />

Theme Parks <strong>and</strong> Attracti<strong>on</strong>s<br />
1. Minor – can be resolved by individual staff members quickly <strong>and</strong> will not affect<br />
other areas of operati<strong>on</strong>s<br />
2. Major – which will affect all or most of the attracti<strong>on</strong>s <strong>and</strong> require attenti<strong>on</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />
acti<strong>on</strong> from top management<br />
Types of risk<br />
Risk management is c<strong>on</strong>cerned with what might go wr<strong>on</strong>g, how often it might go<br />
wr<strong>on</strong>g <strong>and</strong> how serious the c<strong>on</strong>sequences might be. In general, risks can be classified<br />
into the following four types:<br />
1. Low risk, low severity – happen infrequently <strong>and</strong> are not serious in their<br />
c<strong>on</strong>sequences, eg a few visitors become distressed or offended by a particular<br />
exhibiti<strong>on</strong> at a museum<br />
2. Moderate risk, low severity – relatively comm<strong>on</strong> problems which are not very<br />
serious, eg minor v<strong>and</strong>alism<br />
3. Moderate risk, moderate severity – happen quite often <strong>and</strong> have moderate<br />
effect, .eg small fires<br />
4. High risk, high severity – major incidents that could take place at any time with<br />
severe c<strong>on</strong>sequences, eg ride collapses due to poor maintenance leading to loss of<br />
life
