1. ASEAN Fair (Tourism & Exchange)
(Renamed from the former “ASEAN Tourism Fair”, the ASEAN Fair is an
integration of trade, investment and tourism events.
a) Outline
i) Implementation of the ASEAN Fair:
Date: September 15 – 20, 2010 (6 days)
Place: Yamakataya, Kagoshima City, Kagoshima Prefecture
ii) The aim is to showcase ASEAN’s rich culture and traditions by inviting
ASEAN delegates to perform arts and handicrafts-making demonstrations at
the Fair.
iii) Two (2) cultural performers from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines
and Singapore; one NTO (National Tourism Organization) staff member as
team leader and one artisan from each ASEAN Member Country were
invited to the Fair. (Total of 30 persons).
iv) Yamakataya organized an “Asian Bazaar” on the same floor of the Fair where
Asian products were sold. A small restaurant was also set-up to serve
Indonesian, Thai and Vietnamese food.
v) Main activities conducted:
- Performance of traditional and contemporary ASEAN performing arts by
dancers/musicians and handicraft-making demonstrations by
artists/artisans invited from the ten member countries:
