Mitigation and Remedy of Groundwater Arsenic Menace in India : A Vision Document10.1 Mission ManagementChapter-10Mission Management and Time FrameIn order to coordinate, facilitate and monitor the various tasks, envisaged in thisdocument and to initiate dialogue and activities on other sphere of water quality related issues, itis proposed to constitute a National level Committee, which can be named as "National TaskForce for Water Quality Management. This can comprise resourceful experts, renownedindividual/organizations and Government officials from related departments. Since quantity shapesthe fate of quality, the Ministry of Water Resources, Government of India, can be the nodalministry for coordination and initiation of various activities related to 'Water QualityManagement'. The proposed committee can be headed by the Secretary (WR). Mission Management and Time Frame10.2 Time FrameExcept the R & D component, all other components are field oriented, which can betaken up as a 'mission mode', initiating dialogue with respective state government. In fact, it is therespective State government, who has to take initiative for developing and implementingprogrammes. The Central government can provide technical assistance and guidance for developmentand implementation of the programmes. In two components, namely, the R & D andMass awareness and training programmes, the Central government has the responsibility toinitiate and implement the activities.Keeping the above in view, the time frame for achieving the targeted goals is set to be 5(Five) years from 2010 as per the following details:164NIH & CGWB
