Appendix,Roof Membranes1. ALUMAX BURDING SPEaAL11FS DMSlONAlumax Building Specialties Division's metal roofing panels are offered in a wide array of standard Kynar 500 colors. The in-house coil coatingline enables Alumax to provide any special color with small minimum-quantity requirements and shorter-than-average lead times. A limited2O-Year nonprorated finish warranty is available, covering material and labor on replacement. Contact Mesquite, Texas headquarters forcomplete warranty statements.Roofing panels may also be manufactured from other metal substrates, such as 16-0z. and 2O-oz. copper and anodized aluminum.2. AMERICAN BUill>INGS COMPANYAll American Building Company's roof systems are available in a proprietary Premium 70 paint finish, which has a Kynar 500 resin. It has aproprietary high-build primer and special long-life ceramic pigments. It has a chalk rating no lower than 9 and a fade no higher than 4 NBSover 20 years. It is warranted for 25 years based on actual field testing. It is maintenance-free and graffiti-proof.3. ~ COMPANYThe Barrett Ram-Tough Elastomeric Built-up Roofing System uniquely combines the elastomeric properties of single-ply with the applicationtechniques of built-up roofing. The modified asphalt bitumens are engineered from a select blend of highly refined asphalt and Shell Kratonblock copolymer rubber. Conventional asphalt bitumens and cold process mastics are available options. The "felts," or fabric reinforcement, are either polyester, fiberglass, modified bitumen, or a combination thereof depending upon specification used. Unlike other rubberized asphalts, the Ram-Tough KLB-100 and K-312 bitumens can be melted in conventional direct-fired roofing kettles without degradation, they are pumpable, and can be applied with conventional hot dispensers and mops. Aashing details are standard built-up roofing details generally in conformancewith NRCA standard detail specification plates. All modified mopping systems must have top coat of same material as interply adhesive.Utilizing the Ram-Tough Elastomeric Built-up Roofing Systems, the approved roofing contractor, in effect. "manufacturers" in the field hisown monolithic, modified-bitumen sheet without the laps and seams traditionally associated with preformed modified bitumen sheets. Thecompleted polyester-reinforced systems afford high elongation, exceptional usable stress/strain properties, high puncture resistance, "self-curing"cold flow crack bridging capabilities, exceptional low-temperature flexibility, and other performance features normally associate with elastoplastic? single plies.Because of the uniqueness of each individual reroofing project, Barrett should be consulted before writing specifications for actual use ina reroofing application. Unusual roof situations are also encountered from time to time in new construction. A base sheet is required onuninsulated nailable decks. Freezer and cold-storage warehouses, high interior humidity conditions, temporary roofing, and m~t other roofingproblems can be resolved. Compe~e design and specification assistance is available to the contractor, architect, engineer, or owner upon request.Barrett does not endorse BSS #55 and encourages adoption of "strain energy" load-elongation test criteria (in conformance with NBS-IR86-3418, Rossiter & Bentz; NBS-IR 86-3347, Busching, Rossiter & Mathey) as being more relevant to actual in-situ field conditions.4. BmJPABV.(Lm.)Bitufa BY is the manufacturer of a unique high-elastic SBS modified nonreinforced bituminous roofing membrane with a venting substrateunderneath, Aexoper. Aexoper is partially bonded to the surface and, although 85 percent loose laid, has a wind-uplift resistance Oass 90 (UL580). Fire resistant is Oass A (UL 'm), (ASTM E 108). Aexobit is made out of the same raw materials and is specially designed for nashings, details, and verticals. Aexoper and Aexobit both have an elongation above 1,000 percent in all directions with total recovery. They are stillnexible at -45 F. They have excellent UY resistance and durability: after 6000 hours of aging in the ponding-water tester, exposed to UY-Blamps at 170 F and 40,000 cycles of fatigue loading: over 1,000 percent reversible elongation and -45 F. low-temperature nexibility. Sales ofAexoper,'Aexobit exceed 50 million square feet.Uniper is a venting sheet with a mineral-coated glass mat. The mineral coating prevents the bleeding-through of the bitumen while torching. For torching purposes, the material has square holes filled with modified bitumen. When torching down any other modified sheet, the asphaltwill melt to the Uniper. The holes will open and allow the modified to adhere to the roof. Required uplift force is 300 lb./sq. ft. Uniper isa specially developed sheet for permanent vapor-pressure equalization: a sandwich construction or composite material consisting of a lower facingof mineral-surface mat and an upper surface of modified bitumen, both with SBS and APP polymers. About 30 million sq. ft. of Uniper havebeen sold. Uniper can be torched down under every SBS or APP modified top roll. For mopping purposes, Uniper is available with open holes.Unibase is a universal (both SBS and APP) modified bituminous base sheet, or first layer, with a polyester substrate for wooden decks, concrete, and light steel construction. Unibase is installed in instances where you cannot torch down the first layer and where a base layer isneeded, such as unlaminated insulation, wood constructions, etc. Unibase can be nailed down (wooden deck) or mechanically fastened. Theinsulation and base sheet can both be fastened at the same time. Unibase is a base sheet with a very high puncture resistance.5. B.TL WEA'I1JER.PROOFING SYsmMS INc.Application: Yedaflex modified bitumen systems consist of two plies of SBS modified bitumen or one ply of coated base sheet and one ply ofmodified bitumen. Yedanex is flexible at temperatures of -30 F and lower. Membranes may be applied on any slope from dead level to vertical.'-.",Good roofing practice calls for a minimum of 1/4 inch in slope. The substrate includes m~t common decks, concrete, steel and wood as wellas all commercial insulation. Assemblies include both conventional and protected membrane applications. Y edanex systems offer many choices .- 216,. - - ---
