,~18. OWFRS CORNING FlBERG~Modified bitumen products require a base ply with all applications."E" indicates Perma Mop bitumen.19. PERFORMANCI! BUllDING PRODUcrs, INc.(PBP)All necessary application procedures are contained in the PBP "Code of Good Practice" booklet. PBP design considerations are presented, withreferences to the NRCA Handbook of Accepted Roofine Knowledee, the NRCA Roofine & Wateroroofine Manual, NRCA Quality ControlRecommendations fo. Polymer Modified Bitumen ~ and building codes and regulatory agencies. The following are discussed in detail:general recommendations, roof deck recommendations, insulation recommendations, recover recommendations, details, and cold-weatherapplication.20. SARNAFIL INC.G 410: Only Sarnafil G 410 membrane should be used in fully adhered applications. Reinforced with nonwoven fiberglass mat, the 410membrane has 100 percent dimensional stability, and a very low coefficient of thermal expansion, making total adhesion possible without shearstresses causing loss of adhesion. The 410 membrane is available in a variety of stable colors in addition to the standard white and gray.Adhesive is either a solvent-based adhesive (Sarnacol 2170) or a waterbased emulsion (SarnacoI2121). Sarnacol 2121 is restricted to use duringtemperatures above 40 F and over horizontal water-absorbent substrates only. Sarnacol 2170 can be used on vertical and horizontal surfacesand may be used on any approved substrate in any workable climatic condition. Compatibility of the membrane with the substrate must beassured; only approved insulations and substrates provide the code approvals required. All seams shall be hot-air welded. Sarnifil membranesrequire no fire coatings.G 476: Sarnafil G 476 membrane should be used in inverted roof membrane assemblies. It is reinforced with a nonwoven fiberglass matthat provides excellent dimensional stability. The membrane is formulated with excellent alkaline resistance. Its integral reinforcement and hotair-weldedseam provide the protection against wicking and seam degradation needed in inverted applications, where moisture is constantlypresent on the membrane surface.G 442: Sarnafil G 442 membranes should be used in 1~ly laid and ballasted systems. Coverage rate of ballast is a minimum ten poundsper square foot; weight-bearing capacity of the deck should be verified by a professional engineer prior to system design. The ballasted systemis not the system of choice on high rise structures or in areas of high wind.S 327: Sarnafil S 327 membranes should be used for mechanically fastened applications. Reinforced with woven polyester fabric, the S 327membrane is specifically designed to provide the necessary characteristics of elongation and tensile strength to control the stressing of themembrane that occurs as a result of dynamic wind loading. The fastening technique is determined for each individual job, and is calculated basedon building height, ground roughness, and wind zone. The fastening method is special 20-gauge corrosive-resistant plates or 14-gauge perforatedV-shaped galvanized steel bar secured to deck with corrosion-resistant screws or concrete anchors. Depending on wind uplift conditions, platesare installed in membrane overla~ and overla~ are hot-air welded, or the V-shaped bar is placed on top of membrane at calculated spacingsand sealed with membrane coverstrip hot-air welded. Sarnafil membranes require no fire coating.21. SEAMAN CORPORA110NFibertite is a Dacron polyester weft-inserted reinforced membrane with a DuPont ethylene interpolymer alloy coating (EIP) and is prefabricatedinto wide-width roofing rolls (10', IS', 20' x 102' plus custom sizes). The patented system is installed via mechanical fastening through the factoryweldedunexposed tab to the roof deck. Also available is 58" x 100' roll application. Ballasted applications are available.Fibertite installations require fully documented submittals prior to approval for Seaman Warranty. Only approved fastener assemblies(screws and stress plates) may be used for both insulation and membrane fastening. All Fibertite specifications and details must be strictlyadhered to for warranty final inspection approval unless alternative specifications are authorized by Fibertite. Although FM and other buildingcode approvals allow a wide latitude in fastener spacing requirements for Fibertite installations, Fibertite specifications preempt these approvalsas well as SPRI generic EIP application specifications. For further information, contact Fibertite at 800/544-1228.22. SIP~For over thirty years, Siplast has developed and manufactured advanced roofing and waterproofing materials and has pioneered majordevelopments in modified asphalt and foil-faced roofing systems through a continuing research and development program. Siplast developedSBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene) modified bitumens in 1968, which has exceptional elongation/recovery properties over a wide range oftemperatures. Many Siplast roofs applied in the early years of the SBS blend are still in service today.Siplast is part of the lcopal Group, a multi-national industrial corporation. The Siplast product line includes systems developed specificallyfor the varied design and field requirements of modern construction. These systems have been applied over all types of deck constructions inthe widely varying climates of over forty countries, from Canada to Saudi Arabia. Domestically, all Siplast roofing products are manufacturedat its plant in Arkadelphia, Arkansas and are stocked at nine warehouse locations across the country.Siplast assists owners, architects, and engineers in the selection and proper use of Siplast materials, which are applied by qualified, approvedI roofing contractors. Siplast's field staff monitors the projects."..;j.-",.219
