Volkov (October)130 № 4 (050) Декабрь / December 2014Preserving the Nature’s SplendorНе потерять красоту природыThe Beauty of Oilfields is a project which owes its concept and title to our journal adviser LyubovAbdulayevna Magadova, professor at Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. The leadingRussian University holds regular photo contests under this title and the works of its winners wereonce used to start a column entitled the same in the Coiled Tubing Times journal. The column wasbrought to life three years ago, in issue No 37 published in autumn 2011.The contest was met with enthusiasm by our readers, including experts in oil and gas services wholive in Russia and the CIS, and also throughout the world. With their working sites located sometimesin places where the shade of a helicopter is more common than a footprint, they develop oil fieldsmaking special efforts not to ruin the beauties of nature.The journal displayed on its pages the landscapes of the inhospitable Far North, the spellbindingWestern Siberia and the mysterious Eastern Siberia, the torrid Central Asia, the homely Kuban, thecolourful Bashkiria, the serene Belarus, the majestic Volga Region, the picturesque Ukraine, theexotic South America…The excitement of creativity turned contagious for our readers and the editorial team alike. RonClarke, our Editor Emeritus, also took part in the Beauty of Oilfields project. One of his editorialsreads, “In the times of the Ancient Rome, Marcus Vitruvius described his renowned triad of fundamentalarchitecture virtues, those virtues being firmitas (the strength of a structure), utilitas (thepurpose of a structure), and venustas (the aesthetic qualities of the structure). As I see it, this formulais universal and, undoubtedly, may apply to the oil and gas service sphere where we work. Indeed,we rely on the integrity of our equipment; we have a common purpose of working for the benefit ofhumankind while keeping in mind the beauty of nature which is around us”.The beauty is as swift-flowing as the time is. This universal truth has made us include in our calendarthe best moments of natural beauty which our readers managed to capture.Автором идеи и названия «Красота месторождений» является Любовь Абдулаевна Магадова,профессор РГУ нефти и газа им. И.М. Губкина и консультант нашего журнала. Фотоконкурс под этимназванием регулярно проходит в ведущем вузе России, и лучшие работы его участников стали основойпервых выпусков одноименной рубрики в журнале «Время колтюбинга», старт которой был дан тригода назад – в «ВК» № 37 осенью 2011-го.Идею конкурса мгновенно подхватили наши читатели – специалисты нефтегазового сервиса,которые живут в самых разных уголках России и СНГ. И даже шире – планеты Земля, работают наместорождениях, зачастую расположенных там, где тень от вертолета более привычна, чем следчеловека, и стремятся разрабатывать их так, чтобы не погубить красоту природы.На страницах журнала появлялись пейзажи сурового Крайнего Севера, колдовской Западной иполной загадок Восточной Сибири, раскаленной Центральной Азии, уютной Кубани, яркой Башкирии,умиротворенной Беларуси, величественного Поволжья, живописной Украины, экзотической ЮжнойАмерики…Творческий азарт захватил не только читателей, но и членов редакционного коллектива. В частности,в «Красоте месторождений» принял участие почетный редактор журнала Рон Кларк. В одном изсвоих «Слов редактора» он писал: «Когда-то в Древнем Риме Марк Витрувий сформулировал своюзнаменитую триаду: firmitas (прочность конструкции), utilitas (польза), venustas (красота). Это трикачества, которыми должна обладать архитектура. Мне кажется, что эта формула универсальна и сполным правом может быть применена и к нашему делу – нефтегазовому сервису. Ведь мы работаемна прочном оборудовании для пользы человечества и при этом не забываем о красоте природы,которая нас окружает».Красота быстротечна, как время. Следуя этой логике, мы посвятили страницы календаря лучшиммгновениям красоты природы, запечатленным нашими читателями.
