The signature image for the famous French crooner, we instantly know by the yellow
straw hat and broad smile against blue that this is a poster for Maurice Chevalier. The
poster was issued for his triumphant return to Paris after an extended American tour,
and never came with text. This is the larger format version.
One of many posters created by Kiffer for Maurice Chevalier, this one for his
performance at the Theatre des Champs-Elysées. While not the height of his career,

Can-Can with Frank
Sinatra. He was well-known enough that only the iconic image of his yellow straw hat
was necessary to let the average passerby know that Chevalier was performing. Here,
two progressive maquettes showcase Kiffer’s creative process leading up to the poster.
