Introduction1.1 <strong>Police</strong> information assurance cuts across all police business activities. It is critical that aco-ordinated and cohesive approach is taken to improve police performance in support ofthe force objectives:i) <strong>Information</strong> will be managed to support business processes;ii) <strong>Information</strong> will be accurate, up-to-date and readily accessible to those who haveauthority to see it;iii) <strong>Information</strong> will only be retained where necessary;iv) <strong>Information</strong> will only be lawfully disclosed or shared where necessary;v) A consistent approach to managing information will be adopted across the wholeforce based on the lifecycle of information in accordance with MoPI direction ofReview, Retention and Disposal;vi) Methods of information management will be secure, protected, legal, and subject toenvironmental and proportional cost issues.1.2 <strong>Lincolnshire</strong> <strong>Police</strong> is committed to the following five information management principlesas defined by the International Standards Organisation (ISO) 15489:i) To recognise and understand all types of information;ii) To understand the legal issues and execute duty of care responsibilities;iii) To identify and specify business processes and procedures;iv) To identify enabling technologies to support business processes and procedures;v) To monitor and audit business processes and procedures.NOT PROTECTIVELY MARKED 19
