The weldingfaculty offers a selection of technology courses andprograms that prepare the individual for entry level in awelding career. The curriculum offers a variety of ways inwhich students can realize their training and educationalgoals. Student needs are matched with the appropriatesequence of course work within one of the following:specialized single course, the certificate program, or theA.A.S. program. The content and instruction within weldingcenters on the “traditional” welding processes andpractices of oxyacetylene welding and cutting, shieldedmetal arc (stick), gas tungsten arc (Tig-Heliarc), gasmetal arc (MIG), as well as the “non-traditional” processesof plasma arc, resistance welding, fluxed corearc, submerged arc, and electron beam. Participation in,and completion of, the different sequences of instructionwithin the welding department prepares the individualfor a rewarding career in metal fabrication, maintenance,education, supervision, sales and service, as well asmany other opportunities associated with welding technology.To receive an A.A.S. in welding, the student mustcomplete the requirements for the American Welding132
