SECNAVINST 1412.9B7 Feb 2006be retired on the first day of the first month following themonth in which the officer completes his/her period of continuedservice.4. Continuation of Chief Warrant Officersa. Per section 1305(c) of reference (a), the SECNAV maydefer the retirement of any regular warrant upon therecommendation of a continuation selection board and with theconsent of the warrant officer, but not later than 60 days afterhe/she becomes 62 years of age.b. No officer may be deferred for a period of more than 5years by any one selection board.5. Continuation Selection Board Proceduresa. Notice of Convening. Notice of convening of acontinuation selection board shall be issued at least 30 daysbefore such board is convened. The notice shall include theconvening date of the board and such additional information thatwill permit eligible officers to communicate with thecontinuation selection board.b. Continuation Board Membership Composition. Thecomposition shall include a board president, members, recorders,and administrative support personnel as specified in reference(h).c. Oath. Each member of the board shall swear, or affirm,that he or she will perform his or her duties as a member of theboard without prejudice or partiality and having in view boththe special fitness of officers and the efficiency of the MarineCorps. Each recorder and assistant recorder shall swear, oraffirm, that he or she will keep a true record of theproceedings of the board. Each member, recorder, assistantrecorder, and administrative support personnel shall swear, oraffirm, that he or she will not disclose the proceedings orrecommendations of the board except as authorized or required bySECNAV or higher authority.d.
