CHANADDRS begins a range of addresses, NUMADDRS identifies the number of addresses inthis range. For example, if CHANADDRS = 240, and NUMADDRS = 4, then the range of addressescontains 240, 241, 242, and 243. For Unisys, SMGDREF=40 (from the first address inthe range - also the value of the two lower-order hex digits of the CHANADDRS). For IBMhost-based NETEX, SMGDREF can be derived from any of the values in the range. (By convention,it is usually the highest value in the range.)• For DX-NETEX, SMGDREF must be the two low-order hex digits of the lowest profiled address.• For P/NB40x adapters, SMGDREF is the sum of the PORT and the two low-order hex digits ofthe DREF (for example, if PORT= 1 and DREF = 2040, then SMGDREF = 41). The PORTnumber is one of the four ports (0, 1, 2, or 3) from the hard-wire hookup on the back of theadapter. The DREF is shown as a four-digit hexadecimal value in most NETEX displays. Itsvalue is derived in different ways, depending on which host-based system is involved.In general, the first two digits of the four-digit DREF are the physical unit number of the device.The second two digits are either the subchannel address (for channel adapters) or the path withtwo zero bits (for adapters with PORTs).Unit numberfor deviceDREF---- path --- 0 0Figure 17. 16-bit DREFWhen DREF is shown as a two-digit hexadecimal value, it is the second two digits of the fourdigits described above. Only the two-digit hexadecimal DREF is used for calculating thevalue of SMGDREF.SMGNREFThis optional parameter specifies the transport reference subaddress for this host’s session manager.This value corresponds to a specific process within a task specified by SMGDREF. It consists of fourhexadecimal digits. The default value is “FFFF”. This operand need not be specified unless the userwishes to change the default. Then the operand must be defined on all ADAPTER statements referencingthis host.There are no conditions at the present time which would require the user to change the default.Therefore, SMGNREF should not be used except for documentation in the configuration file, and inthat case it should be defined as “FFFF”.CHANADDRThis parameter, which is required only when using non-word channel adapters, specifies the lowestchannel unit address of a group of units to be used by the NETEX software. This channel unit addressmust be expressed as three or four hexadecimal digits, for example, CHANADDR = 3C0.Note: H307 does not use this value, but it may be needed if a common NCT is used with an IBMsystem.NUMADDRSThis parameter, which is required only when using A142 and PB22x/NB22x adapters, specifies themaximum number of adapter subaddresses that will be used by NETEX. The number of subaddressesmust be expressed as a decimal number from 2 to 64 (example: NUMADDRS = 32).OPTIONSThis optional parameter specifies several hardware options. This information will be stored as a bitmask; any options selected will set the corresponding bit in the mask.
