NRBHNAME (NRBHOST)NRBHNAME specifies the symbolic name of the host computer that will be addressed to match an offer request.Names of all hosts are specified by the installation systems programmer. All host names are uppercasealphanumeric data that are up to eight characters in length. Names less than eight characters long should bepadded with blanks.NRBRESV3NRBRESV3 is reserved for possible future NETEX enhancements. Programs should leave binary zeroes inthese fields.NRBUSERThis field is reserved for users. Usually, it will be used to pass information to the User Exits that exist in Hostbased NETEX implementations. NETEX will not process this field in any way.NRBOSDEPNRBOSDEP is reserved for internal use. NETEX software uses this field to service and monitor the progressof NRB requests. The contents of these fields is maintained by NETEX during a session. If these fields are altered by the calling program, the results are unpredictable.Creating an NRBA single NRB should be created before a calling program OFFERs or CONNECTs to another program. TheNRB is 40 words long and should initially be zero-filled. Programs may create several NRBs initially. If several NRBs are required to service a single connection, they should be duplicated from the initial NRB,as described in the following sections.Duplicating an NRBDuplicating NRBs is necessary when using multiple NRBs within a session. By duplicating the NRB theconnection-negotiation parameters, the connection reference number, and the internal NRBOSDEP informationis preserved, allowing the duplicate NRB to be valid. To duplicate an NRB, wait until the initial CONNECT or OFFER has completed successfully, then copy theentire “working” NRB (40 words) to a blank NRB at a different location. The second NRB can now be usedfor NETEX requests.MAN-REF-H307IP-04 NETEX Request Block Page 35
