Admission to Voluntary AidedRoman Catholic and Church of England Faith schoolsEach Voluntary Aided (Faith) school is managed by its own governing body. The governing body ofeach school determines the admission policy for its school.Places will be allocated in accordance with the published admission policy. Please consider carefullyhow closely your application fits the school’s admission policy.A model policy for Voluntary Aided Roman Catholic and Church of England primary schools areincluded in this section, for guidance. Policies for Roman Catholic secondary schools are included infull.Please note:If you are considering applying for a voluntary aided school place it isessential that you obtain a copy of, and carefully consider, the individualschool’s admissions policy.The model policies are for general guidance only - individual schoolpolicies may varyThe admission policies for all Voluntary Aided Schools are available from the School Admissions andTransfers Team, telephone 0191 277 7428, email admissions.education@newcastle.gov.uk or atwww.newcastle.gov.uk/education.Policies are also available from individual schools and at the Customer Services Centre, Civic Centre.Church of England Primary SchoolsThe governing body of each school will consider applications for admission in accordance with itsindividual policy.Roman Catholic Primary SchoolsThe governing body of each school will consider all applications for admission to its school but, ingeneral, priority is given to baptised Roman Catholic children who live within the parish(es) served bytheir school.Admission to a Roman Catholic primary school does not automatically include the rightof transfer to a Roman Catholic secondary school. It will be necessary to make aseparate application at the appropriate time.Roman Catholic Secondary SchoolsWhen considering applications, Roman Catholic secondary schools will give priority to baptised RomanCatholic children from Roman Catholic feeder primary schools in the school’s catchment area.Voluntary Aided School Admission - Right of AppealIf you are refused admission to any school you have the right of appeal to an independent panel.Details of the appeals process will be available from the school.124
