Church of England (voluntary aided) First and Primary SchoolModel Admissions PolicyPlease note:If you are considering applying for a voluntary aided school place it isessential that you obtain a copy of, and carefully consider, the individualschool’s admissions policy.This model policy is for general guidance only - individual school policiesmay varyThe governing body of the School is the Admissions Authority for the school and they intend toadmit up to ___ pupils to the reception year group in September 2009. This arrangementfollows consultation between the governing body, the Local Authority (LA), all other schools inthe area and all other Admission Authorities in the area.The school is open to receive applications for admissions from the parents of all children.Children with a statement of Special Educational Needs that names the school will be offered aplace.If there are fewer applicants than places available in a school, all applicants will be offered aplace.If there are more applicants than places available the following over-subscription criteria will beused to allocate places.Over-subscription CriteriaChildren who are in the care of the Local Authority (LAC)Children who have special medical needs or other special circumstance, that make the child’sattendance at this school essential. The application must be supported by written medical orother professional opinion which may be referred to the Health Authority for consideration.Children with a brother or sister at the school at the time of admission.Children of parents actively participating, and worshipping customarily and oftenChildren of parents not actively participating and worshipping customarily and oftenTie BreakerWhere there are places available for some but not all applicants within a particular criterion,distance from home to school will be the deciding factor, with preference given to those whosehome address is nearest to the school, when measured in a straight line (i.e. as the crow flies).130
Evidence of Church participationParents wishing to have an application considered under this criterion will be asked to providewith their application a pro-forma letter from the Vicar, Priest, Minister, Pastor or Leader incharge of the church in question showing that their application satisfies the criterion.Waiting ListThe school will maintain a waiting list of applicants strictly in order of the over-subscriptioncriteriaParish boundariesA map showing the parish boundaries can be inspected at the school office.The right to withdraw the offer of a placeIf a place is offered on the basis of false information (e.g. address or Church participation) or ifparents do not respond within the stated timescale to the offer of a place the governing bodyreserves the right to withdraw their offer.Closing date for applicationsApplications for admission to Reception Class in September 2009 must be submitted to theLocal Authority by the closing date 24 October 2008.Offer of a school placePlaces will be offered by strict application of the over-subscription criteria, with no reference tothe date of application.Offers of places will be delivered to parents and carers on 2 March 2009.131
