St. Mary’s is part of a citywide partnership to reduce permanent exclusions and the Governorscan admit a student from the placement panel even if the year group is full. This does not set aprecedent for any other application.Parents or carers wishing to apply for a place for their child must complete the application formprovided by the Local Education Authority and return it to the Local Education Authority by thestated date.If applicants are seeking admission in category 1, 2 or 3 above, they may be asked to provideevidence that the child is a baptised Roman Catholic or has been formally received into theRoman Catholic Church.If applicants are seeking admission in category 6 or 7 above, they may be asked for a letter ofsupport from their minister or Faith leader, or suitable equivalent.Where there are places available for some, but not all applicants within a particular category,priority will be given to looked-after children. Distance from home address to school will be thedeciding factor, with preference being given to those whose home address is nearest to theschool, when measured by the shortest walking route.All admissions are determined by the governing body, which reserves the right to consider eachapplication on its merit. The Governing Body supports the LA’s co-ordinated approach toadmissions and will adopt the equal preference principle.
