This does not set aprecedent for any o<strong>the</strong>r application.Parents or carers wishing <strong>to</strong> apply for a place for <strong>the</strong>ir child must complete <strong>the</strong> application formprovided by <strong>the</strong> Local Education Authority and return it <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Local Education Authority by <strong>the</strong>stated date.If applicants are seeking admission in category 1, 2 or 3 above, <strong>the</strong>y may be asked <strong>to</strong> provideevidence that <strong>the</strong> child is a baptised Roman Catholic or has been formally received in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong>Roman Catholic Church.If applicants are seeking admission in category 6 or 7 above, <strong>the</strong>y may be asked for a letter <strong>of</strong>support from <strong>the</strong>ir minister or Faith leader, or suitable equivalent.Where <strong>the</strong>re are places available for some, but not all applicants within a particular category,priority will be given <strong>to</strong> looked-after children. Distance from home address <strong>to</strong> school will be <strong>the</strong>deciding fac<strong>to</strong>r, with preference being given <strong>to</strong> those whose home address is nearest <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong>school, when measured by <strong>the</strong> shortest walking route.All admissions are determined by <strong>the</strong> governing body, which reserves <strong>the</strong> right <strong>to</strong> consider eachapplication on its merit. The Governing Body supports <strong>the</strong> LA’s co-ordinated approach <strong>to</strong>admissions and will adopt <strong>the</strong> equal preference principle.
