6.1.7 Proper manual h<strong>and</strong>ling method should be used <strong>and</strong> applied to carrying<strong>and</strong> transporting <strong>of</strong> counterweights, davit arms, wire ropes, clamps,individual parts <strong>and</strong> body <strong>of</strong> the temporary suspended working plat<strong>for</strong>m.In case <strong>of</strong> a heavy weight, say 50 kg or above, it should be carried by twoor more persons.6.1.8 The procedure <strong>for</strong> erection <strong>and</strong> dismantling should be such that at notime should there be an unstable condition. If it is required to move atemporary suspended working plat<strong>for</strong>m to another location, the usershould instruct a competent person who is preferably the original erectorto carry out the move.6.1.9 During the dismantling, care should be taken in disposal <strong>of</strong> materials <strong>and</strong>components. Components should not be thrown on the ground. Theyshould be lowered h<strong>and</strong> to h<strong>and</strong> in an orderly fashion or brought down bygin wheel or other suitable means.6.2 Trained Operators <strong>and</strong> Workers6.2.1 Every person operating the suspended working plat<strong>for</strong>m or workingthereon should:(a)(b)(c)(d)be at least 18 years old;be fit, agile <strong>and</strong> not height phobic;have undergone training that is either recognized by theCommissioner or provided by the manufacturer <strong>of</strong> the suspendedworking plat<strong>for</strong>m or its local agent; <strong>and</strong>have obtained a certificate in respect <strong>of</strong> such training from the personwho provided the training (regulation 17(1) <strong>of</strong> the SWPR).6.2.2 The training <strong>of</strong> the persons operating or working on the suspended workingplat<strong>for</strong>m should cover areas including:(a)(b)(c)(d)(e)the basic construction <strong>of</strong> the suspended working plat<strong>for</strong>m <strong>and</strong> its system;the operational features including all safety devices;the anchorage <strong>and</strong> suspension systems;the proper use <strong>of</strong> safety belts, independent lifeline <strong>and</strong> other suitablefittings; <strong>and</strong>the emergency procedure <strong>and</strong> the precautionary measures to betaken in cases such as malfunction, locking <strong>of</strong> safety device, manualcranking <strong>of</strong> the working plat<strong>for</strong>m in case <strong>of</strong> power failure, use <strong>of</strong>proper communication device <strong>for</strong> assistance, etc.39
