8.2.13 Functional tests <strong>of</strong> the following devices should be conducted under themaximum safe working load:(a)(b)(c)(d)(e)all operational control including emergency stop;manual descend facility;all limit switches;automatic safety devices; <strong>and</strong>braking systems.8.3 Test <strong>and</strong> Thorough Examination by a CompetentExaminer8.3.1 Every suspended working plat<strong>for</strong>m should be load tested <strong>and</strong> thoroughlyexamined by a competent examiner during the preceding 12 monthsbe<strong>for</strong>e its use. A certificate in an approved <strong>for</strong>m (Form 3) containing astatement to the effect that the suspended working plat<strong>for</strong>m is in safeworking order made by the competent examiner should be obtained inrespect <strong>of</strong> the suspended working plat<strong>for</strong>m after such examination(regulation 20(2) <strong>of</strong> the SWPR).8.3.2 Every suspended working plat<strong>for</strong>m has to be further load tested <strong>and</strong>thoroughly examined by a competent examiner when the suspendedworking plat<strong>for</strong>m has subsequently undergone:(a)(b)(c)(d)substantial repair;re-erection, including erection following its removal to a differentlocation;adjustment to any member <strong>of</strong> the suspended working plat<strong>for</strong>m, beingan adjustment which involves changes in the arrangements <strong>for</strong>anchoring or supporting the suspended working plat<strong>for</strong>m; orfailure or collapse.A certificate in an approved <strong>for</strong>m (Form 3) containing a statement to the effect thatthe suspended working plat<strong>for</strong>m is in safe working order made by the competentexaminer should be obtained after the examination (regulation 20(3) <strong>of</strong> the SWPR).51
