8.2.4 The frame, decking, weld <strong>and</strong> other joints <strong>of</strong> the working plat<strong>for</strong>m structureshould be closely examined <strong>for</strong> corrosion, cracks, <strong>and</strong> generaldeterioration.8.2.5 The whole length <strong>of</strong> every wire ropes including safety ropes should bethoroughly examined <strong>for</strong> wear, damage <strong>and</strong> corrosion in order to ensurethe safety <strong>of</strong> the rope system. Particular attention should be paid to tuckedsplices <strong>and</strong> those sections <strong>of</strong> rope lying close to terminal fittings.8.2.6 When examining a winch operated suspended working plat<strong>for</strong>m, theworking plat<strong>for</strong>m should be lowered to the lowest level <strong>and</strong> all parts <strong>of</strong>the rope, including those that remained spooled on the drum, should becarefully examined.8.2.7 The anchorage system, including the outriggers, tie-back ropes, turnbuckles,imbedded eye-bolts, anchor bolts or other ro<strong>of</strong> fixing or structureshould be carefully examined <strong>for</strong> corrosion <strong>and</strong> defects.8.2.8 Rollers <strong>and</strong> guide pulley should be checked to see that they are free torotate.8.2.9 All lock nuts, cotter pins <strong>and</strong> other retaining devices should be replaced ifthey are found to be defective or missing. All load bearing bolts should bere-tightening.8.2.10 All critical parts <strong>of</strong> every winch, climber <strong>and</strong> drive mechanism should bethoroughly examined, including the adjustment <strong>of</strong> all brakes if necessary.8.2.11 All electrical components <strong>and</strong> earthing capacity should be checked <strong>and</strong>tested in accordance with the manufacturer’s specification by a qualifiedelectrician.8.2.12 Non-destructive test should be carried out if necessary to determine orconfirm whether the load bearing capacity <strong>of</strong> the suspended workingplat<strong>for</strong>m system is adversely affected to the extent that a repair must beimmediately carried out, <strong>and</strong> that the safe working load may have to bereduced.50
