The industrial history of Rhondda Cynon Taf means that there are sitesrequiring treatment and where land reclamation schemes are necessary toeither ensure the long-term stability of the land or to prepare the land forfuture development. It should be noted that not all derelict land requiresreclamation: some have reverted to nature and present no significantsafety issues, so that the balance of advantage to the public interest lieswith leaving such sites undisturbed. The issue of eyesore removal refers toderelict land reclamation, which is closely related to the treatment ofcontaminated and unstable land.
