3.6.2.15 After applying the primer, the Big Christmas tree must first be left to dry properly.<br />

3.6.2.16 Colour spray paint must be applied next. Ensure that three (3) layers <strong>of</strong> paint are sprayed on<br />

the Big Christmas tree.<br />

3.6.2.17 Where more than one colour needs to be sprayed to a Big Christmas tree, ensure that no<br />

over spraying takes place.<br />

3.6.2.18 The following Dulux Duco (or equivalent to approval) paint must be used for the spray <strong>of</strong> Big<br />

Christmas trees:<br />

� Primer<br />

� Aerosol Matt Black Paint<br />

� Aerosol Matt White Paint<br />

� Aerosol HG Black Paint<br />

� Aerosol Appliance White Paint<br />

� Aerosol HG Royal Blue Paint<br />

� Aerosol HG Signal Red Paint<br />

� Aerosol HG Yellow Paint<br />

� Aerosol HG Green Paint<br />

� Aerosol HG Brown Paint<br />

3.6.2.19 The Big Christmas trees must be left to dry properly and inspected by a <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Town</strong><br />

Electricity <strong>of</strong>ficial.<br />

3.6.2.20 After the inspection <strong>of</strong> the spray paint is finished, the installation <strong>of</strong> rope lights and fairy lights<br />

can be commenced.<br />

3.6.2.21 Rope lights and fairy lights must be installed on the Big Christmas trees according to design.<br />

3.6.2.22 Make sure that end caps are placed on the ends <strong>of</strong> the rope lights. These end caps need to<br />

be glued using PVC glue.<br />

3.6.2.23 Where rope lights are jointed, splice connectors must be made use <strong>of</strong>. These joints need to<br />

be covered with a heat shrink tube.<br />

3.6.2.24 Power lead and lead <strong>of</strong> the controller must be installed and insulated.<br />

3.6.2.25 Wires must be connected to each other using transparent wire connectors.<br />

3.6.2.26 Circuitry <strong>of</strong> the rope lights and fairy lights must be done according to the design.<br />

3.6.2.27 Where light needs darkening out, black heat shrink and insulation tape must be used.<br />

3.6.2.28 All rope lights, fairy lights and wiring will be fixed to the Big Christmas trees by means <strong>of</strong> cable<br />

ties. <strong>No</strong> loose hanging wires will be allowed.<br />

3.6.2.29 The controller/flasher unit and dinky connectors for connecting the electrical power supply<br />

cable to the Big Christmas tree will be placed in an outdoor utility box, which will be placed on<br />

the one bottom ring <strong>of</strong> the Big Christmas tree.<br />

3.6.2.30 Once the rope lights and fairy lights have been fitted and the tree is ready for installation, the<br />

Big Christmas tree must be tested. The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Town</strong> Electricity Services must be<br />

present while testing the Big Christmas tree.<br />

3.6.2.31 Any defects or concerns raised by the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Town</strong> Electricity Services must be<br />

rectified before the Big Christmas tree may be installed.<br />
