16. GUARANTEE<br />

16.1 The contractor shall guarantee all manufactured goods for a period <strong>of</strong> one (1) year from date <strong>of</strong><br />

servicing and commissioning. The guarantee shall include maintenance and repairs where required<br />

during the period.<br />

17. DISPOSAL OF SCRAP<br />

17.1 The Contractor shall keep a weight record <strong>of</strong> all metal and non-metal scrap generated by the<br />

replacement <strong>of</strong> parts.<br />

17.2 The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Town</strong> Electricity Services will advise on how the scrapped assets will be disposed <strong>of</strong>.<br />

17.3 The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Town</strong> Electricity Services will be responsible to co-ordinate and manage the<br />

scrapping <strong>of</strong> equipment.<br />

17.4 Any metal and non-metal scrap must be returned to the depot or site from which it was collected.<br />

18. TEST CERTIFICATES<br />

18.1 The Contractor will provide test certificates referring to the necessary tests performed on the motifs to<br />

ensure proper functionality. The witnessed test values shall be entered on the certificates.<br />

18.2 The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Town</strong> Electricity Services reserves the right to witness tests as prescribed. The<br />

Contractor shall advise him two (2) working days prior to the test being carried out.<br />

18.3 The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Town</strong> Electricity Services reserves the right to inspect machinery and equipment as<br />

and when required on the premises <strong>of</strong> the contractor.<br />

19. MATERIAL SPECIFICATION<br />

19.1 All material must be to specification or similar and approved.<br />

19.2 All material must be SABS approved.<br />

19.3 All metal round bars, flat bars, angle iron, square tubing, expanding metal and plate to be mild steel.<br />

19.4 The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Town</strong> Electricity Services may order any material as stated in the pricing schedule<br />

from this tender as and whenever required.<br />

20. STATUTORY LOAD TESTING<br />

20.1 By law all catenary wires and structures need to be load tested every three (3) months. The Contractor<br />

must perform these tests.<br />

20.2 The following test must be performed:<br />

� Visual Test<br />

� Working Load Test<br />

� Overload Test<br />

� Deflection Test<br />

� Torque Test<br />

20.3 By doing the Visual Test, it must be checked to see if there is any damage to the catenary wire, mounts<br />

or eyebolts. The founding’s <strong>of</strong> this test must be captured on a test certificate.<br />

20.4 By doing the Working Load Test, a load must be placed on the catenary wire that will have the<br />

approximate value <strong>of</strong> the working load that will be applied to the catenary wire. Measurements must be<br />

taken and captured on a test certificate.<br />

20.5 By doing the Overload Test, a 10% overload must be placed on the catenary wire. This will be the<br />

working load plus (+) 10%. Measurements must be taken and captured on a test certificate.<br />
