3.10.2.15 After applying the primer, the set-piece must first be left to dry properly.<br />

3.10.2.16 Colour spray paint must be applied next. Ensure that three (3) layers <strong>of</strong> paint are sprayed<br />

on the set-pieces.<br />

3.10.2.17 Where more than one colour needs to be sprayed to a set-piece, ensure that no over<br />

spraying takes place.<br />

3.10.2.18 The following Dulux Duco (or equivalent to approval) paint must be used for the spray <strong>of</strong> setpieces:<br />

� Primer<br />

� Aerosol Matt Black Paint<br />

� Aerosol Matt White Paint<br />

� Aerosol HG Black Paint<br />

� Aerosol Appliance White Paint<br />

� Aerosol HG Royal Blue Paint<br />

� Aerosol HG Signal Red Paint<br />

� Aerosol HG Yellow Paint<br />

� Aerosol HG Green Paint<br />

� Aerosol HG Brown Paint<br />

3.10.2.19 The set-pieces must be left to dry properly.<br />

3.10.2.20 As soon as the spray paint is dry on the set-pieces it must be inspected by the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cape</strong><br />

<strong>Town</strong> Electricity Services <strong>of</strong>ficial to see if the spray paint is done properly.<br />

3.10.2.21 After the inspection <strong>of</strong> the spray paint is finished, the installation <strong>of</strong> rope lights and fairy<br />

lights can be commenced.<br />

3.10.2.22 Rope lights and fairy lights must be installed on the frames according to design.<br />

3.10.2.23 Make sure that end caps are placed on the ends <strong>of</strong> the rope lights. These end caps need to<br />

be glued using PVC glue.<br />

3.10.2.24 Where rope lights are jointed, splice connectors must be made use <strong>of</strong>. These joints need to<br />

be covered with a heat shrink tube.<br />

3.10.2.25 Power leads and leads <strong>of</strong> the controller must be installed and insulated.<br />

3.10.2.26 Wires must be connected to each other using transparent wire connectors.<br />

3.10.2.27 Circuitry <strong>of</strong> the rope lights and fairy lights must be done according to the design.<br />

3.10.2.28 Where light needs darkening out, black heat shrinks and insulation tape must be used.<br />

3.10.2.29 All rope lights, fairy lights and wiring will be fixed to the motif frames by means <strong>of</strong> cable ties.<br />

<strong>No</strong> loose hanging wires will be allowed.<br />

3.10.2.30 The controller/flasher unit and dinky connectors for connecting the electrical power supply<br />

cable to the set-pieces will be placed in an outdoor utility box, which will be placed on the<br />

one bottom corner <strong>of</strong> the set-pieces.<br />

3.10.2.31 Once the rope lights and fairy lights have been fitted and is ready for installation, the setpieces<br />

must be tested. The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Town</strong> Electricity Services must be present for the<br />

testing.<br />
