8.4 DeaerationFig. 32 <strong>Manual</strong> deaeration of the dosing head(while the pump is running)1. Open the deaeration valve (V) of the dosing headby approximately 1 turn (2 turns with Plus 3system).2. Press the "Start/Stop" button and keep it pressed.– The pump switches to continuous operation.3. Leave the pump running until the medium flowingfrom the deaeration line (J) is free of air bubbles.4. Carefully close the deaeration valve.8.5 Changing the tank with Plus 3 systemFor pumps with Plus 3 system, the tank can also bechanged during operation by using the supply ofdosing medium in the priming chamber.CautionChanging the tank1. Remove the suction line, overflow line anddeaeration line from the empty tank.– The dosing medium is then supplied from thetank (F).2. Insert the suction line, overflow line anddeaeration line into the new tank.3. Do not immerse the overflow line and deaerationline in the dosing medium. Route the linesdownwards and without loops.NoteVJTM03 6263 4506WarningThe dosing medium is constantlysupplied from the overflow line whilethe pump is running. Take suitablesteps to ensure that the dosing mediumis safely collected!WarningRisk of chemical burns!Wear protective clothing (gloves andgoggles) when working on the dosinghead, connections or lines!Do not let the calibration tube (E) runempty! There is only a limited amount of timeavailable to change the tank, dependingon the pump type and dosing flow, e.g.30 seconds at a dosing flow of 6 l/h!If air has been sucked in, brieflyincrease the stroke setting to 100 %and switch the pump to continuousoperation.9. How to use the control unitNote9.1 Menu levelsMenu levels used in the control unit• First function level: for selecting and setting theoperating modes of the pump (<strong>Manual</strong>, Contact,Analog), performing the batch and timer functionsand starting the pump.• Second function level: for setting and viewingadditional functions, selecting and setting thebatch and timer functions and setting the accesscode to protect the pump against unintentional orunauthorised access to pump settings.• Service level: for setting the pump type and theunit of display for the dosing flow (l/h or gal/h) andsetting the inputs and outputs.Saving user settingsThe pump settings are automatically savedapproximately every 10 minutes and remain as theyare even after the power supply has been switchedoff.9.2 General functions of the control unit9.2.1 Deaeration and suctionIf the "Start/Stop" button is pressed for longer than1 second, the pump switches to continuousoperation for as long as the button is held down(e.g. for suction or deaeration). This happens regardless of the selected operatingmode. (In batch or timer mode, the pump has to bestopped first.)9.2.2 Locking "run"The pump can be locked to avoid manual stopping. When activating this function (service level), thepump starts running with the present settings andcannot be stopped using the "Start/Stop" button. It is still possible to acknowledge error messagesusing the "Start/Stop" button.Stopping the pump when the locking "run" isactivated• If remote on/off is connected, use remote off.• Disconnect the pump from the power supply.NoteFirst see sections 5. Installation,7. Start-up / shutdown and7.2 Operating the pump. Only theadditional functions are described inthis section. For "Batch manual", the "Run" buttonshould not be locked as the pump thenruns in continuous operation.9.2.3 Two-stage tank-empty signalThis function is used to provide a warning when thetank is almost empty and to switch off the pumpwhen the tank is empty. To use the pre-empty signal, ensure that the suction line is equipped with two floatswitches.33
