In 2004 she won the AmericanScandinavian Foundation’s Leif and Inger Sjöberg Prize.Nere Lete holds a BA in Basque philology from DeustoUniversity and an MFA in translation from the University ofIowa. She is currently an assistant professor of Basque anddirector of the Basque Studies Minor at Boise State University.She has worked as a voice-over actress and script adaptorfor Basque Television.Suzanne Jill Levine, a leading translator of Latin Americanliterature, has received many honors, including a GuggenheimFellowship for her literary biography of Manuel Puigand, most recently, the PEN Center USA 2012 prize forliterary translation. Her recent works include her editions ofJorge Luis Borges for Penguin Classics (Poems of the Night;The Sonnets; On Writing; On Argentina; On Mysticism); hertranslation The Lizard’s Tale by José Donoso (NorthwesternUP); and her first chapbook, Reckoning, a collection of poetryand translations (Finishing Line Press). She is currentlytranslating Mundo Cruel: Stories for Seven Stories Press.She is also the founding editor of Translation Studies Journal(UCSB).Alexis Levitin has been translating from the Portuguese forthirty-seven years. His thirty-two books include ClariceLispector’s Soulstorm and Eugenio de Andrade’s ForbiddenWords (both from New Directions). He is currently touringthe USA with prize-winning Brazilian poet Salgado Maranhãoand his book Blood of the Sun (Milkweed Editions).American translator Janet Livingstone has lived in Slovakiafor 13 years. He has more than twenty years of experience as a professionalfundraiser and development professional, and alsoserves on the board of Writers Omi, an international writersresidency program with a particular focus on translation.Marta López-Luaces is associate professor of Spanish andItalian at Montclair State University. Her translation of RobertDuncan´s work, Tensar el arco y otros poemas, was publishedby Bartleby ed. in 2012. Her three books of original poetryare Distancias y destierros, Las lenguas del viajero, and Losarquitectos de lo imaginario.Elizabeth Lowe is professor and director of the Center forTranslation Studies in the School of Literatures, Cultures,and Linguistics at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.She received her Doctorate in Comparative Literaturewith a concentration in Translation from the City Universityof New York under Gregory Rabassa. Lowe is the author ofthe ground-breaking The City in Brazilian Literature, and coauthor(with Earl E. Fitz) of Translation and the Rise of Inter-American Literature. Among the authors she has translatedinto English are Clarice Lispector, Rubem Fonseca, NelidaPinon, Darcy Ribeiro, Victor Giudice, Euclides da Cunha,and Machado de Assis.42
