Zachary Rockwell Ludington is a PhD candidate in HispanicLiteratures at the University of Virginia. This fall he isbeginning work on his dissertation on the Spanish historicalavant-garde. Zach has taught translation at UVA and hasrecently finished translating Spanish (post)poet and novelistAgustín Fernández Mallo’s Pixel Flesh.Marit MacArthur is associate professor of English at CSUBakersfield and an MFA student in poetry at Warren WilsonCollege. Her translations of Polish poets have appeared inAmerican Poetry Review, World Literature Today, Poetry International,and VERSE. In 2008 she, was a Fulbright fellow atthe University of Lodz, where she worked on collaborativetranslation.Dennis Maloney is the editor and publisher of the widelyrespected White Pine Press in Buffalo, NY, which will celebrateits 40th year in 2013. He is also a poet and translator.His works of translation include: The Stones of Chile by PabloNeruda, The Landscape of Castile by Antonio Machado, andthe The Poet and the Sea by Juan Ramon Jimenez. His mostrecent volume of poetry is Just Enough. His book of YosanoAkiko translations, Tangled Hair, will be published in 2012by Palisades Press.including Bayou des Acadiens / Blind River, prose poetry andshort short fiction, forthcoming from Les Éditions Perce-Neige. She won the Hackney Literary Award for Poetry andreceived four Pushcart nominations.Micah McCrary is a graduate student instructor and MFACandidate in the Nonfiction Program at Columbia CollegeChicago. In addition to being a regular contributor toBookslut and Chicago-based Newcity, his work has appearedor is forthcoming in South Loop Review, The Heated Forest,and Time Out Chicago, among other publications, and hasreceived mention in the online edition of The New Yorker. Heserves as assistant editor at Hotel Amerika, is a DiversifyingFaculty in Illinois (DFI) Fellow, and, in the summer of 2012,was a John Woods Scholar at Western Michigan University’sPrague Summer Program.Becka Mara McKay is assistant professor of Translation andCreative Writing at Florida Atlantic University. Her firstbook of poems, A Meteorologist in the Promised Land, waspublished by Shearsman Books. She has published threetranslations of fiction from the Hebrew: Laundry (AutumnHill Books), Blue Has No South (Clockroot), and Lunar SavingsTime (Clockroot).participants (cont.)Salgado Maranhão’s collected poems, The Color of the Word,won Brazil’s highest award, the Premio de Poesia da AcademiaBrasileira de Letras, for the year 2011. In addition tonine books of poetry, he has written song lyrics and maderecordings with some of Brazil’s leading jazz and pop musicians.His work has appeared in close to thirty Americanliterary magazines.Daniel Medin is an associate professor of Comparative Literatureat the American University of Paris, where he helpsrun the Center for Writers & Translators and edit the CahiersSeries. He is the author of Three Sons: Franz Kafka in the Fictionof J.M. Coetzee, Philip Roth and W.G. Sebald (NorthwesternUP), and an advisory editor for several periodicals, amongthem The Quarterly Conversation.Mojdeh Marashi is a writer, translator, artist, and designer.She is the translator (from Persian with Chad Sweeney) of TheSelected Poems of H. E. Sayeh: The Art of Stepping Through Time(White Pine). She holds an MA in Interdisciplinary Arts andan MA in Creative Writing.William Martin is a visiting professor of German at ColgateUniversity and an Associate Editor with Zephyr Press. Hehas also worked as Literature Curator for the Polish CulturalInstitute in New York and Fiction Editor for Chicago Review.His translations include Lovetown by Michal Witkowski andFarewells to Plasma by Natasza Goerke (from Polish) and Emiland the Detectives by Emil Kästner (from German). He is currentlyworking on a translation from Slovene of lyric essaysby Aleš Šteger.Beverly Matherne, poet and professor of English at NorthernMichigan University, is poetry editor of Passages North literarymagazine and director of the university’s Visiting WritersProgram. She is the author of six bilingual books of poetry,Erica Mena holds an MFA in translation from the Universityof Iowa. Her translations of Etnairis Rivera, Return to the Sea,was published by Arrowsmith Press. Her translations haveappeared with Words Without Borders, Two Lines, Asymptote,PEN America, and elsewhere. She is the founding editor ofAnomalous Press.Orlando Ricardo Menes currently directs the Creative WritingProgram at Notre Dame. Recent books are a poetry collection,Furia (Milkweed), and My Heart Flooded with Water:Selected Poems by Alfonsina Storni (Latin American LiteraryReview Press). He was awarded an NEA Literature Fellowshipin 2009.Inga Michaeli is a translator, editor, and former chair of theIsrael Translators Association. She has translated dozensof books into Hebrew, including The World is Flat (ThomasFriedman), The Known World (Edward P. Jones), Sea of Poppies(Amitav Ghosh) and a new translation of Ayn Rand’s TheFountainhead.43
