And in the intelligence business, that can be verydamaging.... So this was a hands-on demonstrationthat the world may be built a little differently than weonce anticipated....So this one particular night we got to the AdvancedSession...and we had them holding two forks by the baseand you were not to apply any physical force, just holdthem by the base. What happened was that there was ascream and this guy yelled, “Look at that!” And we lookedover to this individual who was holding a fork and it wasbent a full 90 degrees. Now I didn’t see this happen, butEd Speakman, our science advisor who was a GS-18,that’s equivalent to a three-star general, saw this happen.I didn’t see it so I was frankly a little skeptical, especiallysince there were people there who wished I wouldn’t dothings like this in that environment. So I figured that somebodybent it and as soon as I acknowledged it, he wouldsay, “Nah, fooled you. I bent it with my hand.” I wouldn’thave put something like that past some of those guys. SoI just said, “Gee, that’s really interesting.” And then, witheverybody watching, the fork straightened itself andcame back down to a full 90 degrees, stopped, and cameback up about 45 degrees. I can show you because I’vestill got the fork. The individual put down the forks andsaid, “I wished that had not happened.” It turned outthat it scared the shit out of the guy. Fortunately, wewere sequestered and we had our psychologist with us.We spent a couple of days putting this guy back together.By the time he went home, he was in good
