212<strong>PSI</strong> <strong>Spies</strong>It was something so totally strange and unique thatnothing in my life had prepared me for it. I suddenly realizedthat my body was spread along the beam forwhat seemed to be endless miles of distance. My backwas against the melting metallic plate, but was also apart of the metal, itself. I could look forward and backwardalong the beam and see myself standing at thousandsof places within it. Thousands of images ofmyself were spread along the tube, yet blurred somehowinto one image. I was aware that I could see eachof the other images from the vantage point of each andevery one, all at the same time. It was like somethingout of a high-budget science fiction movie, but this wasreal.Each of the thousands of awarenesses began to conversewith one another, somehow showing differentpersonalities and thought patterns within each, butsomehow all unified into a single mind. As the manyawarenesses conversed, they quickly came to thesame conclusion: I had a job to do.With a difficulty almost like that of walking into astrong, gale-force wind, I saw all the many imagesstruggling to join together into one, back at the pointwhere I had entered the beam. They did not all make it,but enough of them did that I was able to turn and faceinto the oncoming beam of energy, to study it from theinside.At first, I began analyzing the beam.
