366 Installation and Mainframe Configuration(b) Setting TALK ONLY ModePosition 6 of the HP-IB ADDRESS SELECT switch is the TALK ONLY switch (seeFigure 69). When the TALK ONLY switch is placed in the "1" position, the 3497Acannot be controlled from a controller and commands must be entered from the frontpanel.As factory set, the TALK ONLY switch is in the "0" position (mode disabled). Toenable the TALK ONLY function, follow the instructions above to remove theOutguard Controller Board. Set the TALK ONLY switch to the "1" position andreplace the Outguard Controller Board and replace the protective cover.(c) Setting POWER ON SRQIf you want the 3497A to send a Service Request (SRQ) to the controller at poweron, set the POWER ON SRQ ENABLE switch (postion 7 on the HP-IB ADDRESSSELECT switch - see Figure 69) to the "1" position. As factory set, the POWERON SRQ function is disabled (switch position 7 set to "0").To do this, remove the Outguard Controller as shown in Figure 70, and set switchposition 7 to the "1" position. Then replace the Outguard Controller Board and theprotective cover.Set Serial Data Operating ConditionsFor a 3497A with Serial Data capabilities, (Option 232), the instrument can be configuredfor a wide variety of operating conditions, depending on controller and speedrequirements. See RS232C INSTALLATION for 3497A operating conditions and factorypreset conditions.If your application requires a setup different from the factory configuration, you canchange the configuration by setting switches S1 and S2 which are located on theOutguard Controller Board inside the 3497A. Figure 71 shows the functions of eachof the positions for S1 and S2.S2 is used only for setting RS232C or RS4491423 operation. With all S2 switchesset to the "1" position, the 3497A is enabled for RS4491423 operation. With S2switches set to the "0" position (factory configuration), the 3497A is set forRS232C operation.S1 sets DirectIMODEM connection; 7 or 8-bit operation; even, odd or no parity bit;DC1 handshake on or off; speed of operation and number of stop bits.
