<strong>Procedure</strong>Figure 2.3.5 – Secondary Trench2.3.6 Joint Use TrenchJoint use trenching requirements may vary by area; consult the PowerCompany for requirements before installation. The customer may be allowedto place communication, signal, and other electrical supply conductors in thesame trench as Power Company conductors, provided that the installationmeets Power Company policy, and all concerned parties agree on theplacement.The Power Company will not install electrical conductors in a commontrench with water lines, sewer lines, or other drainage lines. For a joint usetrench with gas lines, contact the Power Company for requirements.PacifiCorp prefers that other electric utilities be located in different trenchesthat have a minimum separation of 6 feet; however, the Power Companymay allow a joint trench agreement with another electric utility.When installing secondary conduit in a joint use trench, follow thedimensions in Figure 2.3.6.1. When installing primary conduit in a joint usetrench, follow the dimensions in Figure 2.3.6.2. Figure 2.3.6.2 shows thesecondary and joint use installed in a horizontal configuration. This is thepreferred configuration. When easements are limited or crowded, thesecondary conduit can be placed above the primary conduit.
