The use of waterand wet cutting is compulsory, as itextends the service life of the diamondwire. The use of diamonds depends onthe structure, compactness and type ofthe stone.Additional development of quarryequipment was brought about by theintroduction of chain saw cutting machines.The machine’s principle issimilar to that of a power wood saw;however, the machine has larger dimensionsand an additional hydraulicand electrical system. The most importantcomponent of the machine is ablade with a chain. The blades are ofvarious lengths, ranging from 1.5 m to7 m, depending on the use of the machine.Cutting of stone is performedby using a chain blade with “widia”or diamond plates mounted on it. Diamondplates are made of small grainsof polycrystalline diamond introducedin the tungsten carbide base. The platesare mounted, in different directions, inbrackets on the chain.
