E-mail: Rado.Turk@ntf.uni-lj.siReceived: October 26, 2012 Accepted: November 26, 2012Abstract: The new mathematical model is proposed that enable calculationof true stress – true strain dependence from the results of tensile testsalso after appearing of necking. Based on this model the computerprogram was developed which from the measured final shapes of thetensile specimens and from tensile testing data automatically determinethe time evolution of the specimen’s contour, strain rate andstress-strain relation. In order to tests and validate the model tensiletests at different prescribed strain rates and temperatures on specimensmade of nickel alloy Alloy201 were carried out on thermo-mechanicalsimulator Gleeble 1500D. It was found that after occurrenceof neck the true strain rate is constantly increasing throughout thetest. Further it was found that plastic part of the rod can be well approximatedwith constant and with catenary but Bridgman correctioncan be determined only if catenary is used. Comparison of predictedevolution of minimal radius at the neck with measured one showedexcellent agreement.Izvleček: V delu je opisan nov matematični model, s katerim je mogoče napodlagi rezultatov nateznih preizkusov tudi po pojavu skrčka določitiodvisnost prava napetost – prava deformacija.
