7 • SETTING UP COMMUNICATIONS• • • • •Setting up RSLinx Enterprise data server redundancyTo minimize disruptions to clients if the primary data server fails, set up a redundant dataserver. This is only available for distributed applications.Since stand-alone applications do not support data server redundancy, there is no Redundancytab in the RSLinx Enterprise Server Properties dialog box, for a stand-alone application.7 • PlaceholderIn <strong>RSView</strong>, the redundant server is called the secondary server. In the Redundancy tab,specify the name of the secondary data server, and specify whether <strong>RSView</strong> should switchback to the primary data server if it becomes available again.Provide redundancy using a secondary serverSelect this check box to enable data server redundancy. Clear this check box to disabledata server redundancy.Computer running the secondary serverType the name of the computer on which the secondary data server is running. To browsefor the name of the computer, click the Browse button.Switch back optionsTo prevent <strong>RSView</strong> from switching back to the primary data server when it becomesavailable, click Continue using the secondary server even when the primary becomesavailable again. To make <strong>RSView</strong> switch back to the primary data server when it becomesavailable, click Switchback to the primary server when it becomes available again.7-7
