You can create a new application of that type, or open an existing one.Logging on to FactoryTalk ®You are prompted to log on to the FactoryTalk Directory server, the first time you run aFactoryTalk-enabled product after installing, or after restarting the computer. Forexample, if you restart the computer and then start <strong>RSView</strong> Studio, you are prompted tolog on after selecting a product type.Log on as a user with the necessary security privileges, at the FactoryTalk Directory thatmanages the application. For example, if you want to create or open a distributedapplication in <strong>RSView</strong> Studio, you must be authorized to do so at the FactoryTalkNetwork Directory.If you are logging on directly after installing, use the administrative account you createdat the FactoryTalk Local or Network Directory, after installing the FactoryTalkAutomation Platform . For more information, see the <strong>RSView</strong> <strong>Supervisory</strong> <strong>Edition</strong><strong>Installation</strong> <strong>Guide</strong>.If single sign-on is turned on, the user that logs on initially becomes the currentFactoryTalk Directory user for that Windows session. You will not have to log on again, tostart any other FactoryTalk-enabled product in the same session, as long asRSAssetSecurity services authorize the current user.If the <strong>RSView</strong> SE Client is the first FactoryTalk-enabled product you run after restarting thecomputer, and you are prompted to log on using the <strong>RSView</strong> SE Client Login dialog box, you willnot be logged on to FactoryTalk Directory, nor set as the single-sign-on user.For more information about security services, see Chapter 15, Setting up security.Opening an applicationTo open an existing application1. Start <strong>RSView</strong> Studio, select the product type for the application, and then clickContinue.If <strong>RSView</strong> Studio is the first FactoryTalk-enabled software you are running, afterinstalling <strong>RSView</strong> or restarting the computer, you will be prompted to log on. Formore information about logging on to FactoryTalk, see page 2-2.2. In the New/Open ... Application dialog box, click the Existing tab.3. In the Existing tab, click the name of the application you want to open, select anapplication language, and then click Open.2-2
