14 • USING EVENTS• • • • •Using the Accept and Discard buttonsWhen you enter information in the editor, the Prev and Next buttons change to Accept andDiscard. Click Accept to save information. Click Discard to discard changes to theinformation.Creating an events componentAn event consists of two parts: an expression and an action. When a component in theexpression changes, the expression is evaluated. If the expression’s true state changesfrom false on the previous evaluation, to true on the current evaluation, the action istriggered.14 • PlaceholderTo create an events component1. In Action box in the Events editor, specify the command, macro or symbol that willrun when the event expression evaluates to true.2. In the Expression box, create an expression that will determine the conditions that willtrigger the action. For information about expressions, see Chapter 20, Creatingexpressions.3. Click Accept.4. Click Next to create another event if the events component is to contain more than oneevent.5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 until all events for the particular component are defined.6. Select Event Setup from the Setup menu.7. In the Event Setup dialog box type a description of the component and specify amaximum update rate, and then click OK.8. In the Events editor, click Close.9. Specify the name of the events component and then click OK.14-3
