The Types of MeditationPART V<strong>II</strong>SAHAJ SAMADHITHE different forms of meditation practiced before consciouslyentering the Path, as well as the different forms of general andspecial meditation adopted after becoming an aspirant, are pre-Sahaj Samadhistands by itselfparatory to the attainment of the highest state ofSahaj Samadhi or spontaneous meditation, inwhich the aspirant becomes permanentlyestablished when he realises the ultimate goal of life. The SahajSamadhi of the Siddha or God-realised person is continuous withall the prior forms of meditation and is a culmination of them, butdifferent in kind, and belongs to an entirely different order.The spontaneity or effortlessness of Sahaj Samadhi must becarefully distinguished from the pseudo-sense of spontaneitywhich is present in the usual meditations of the worldly man whoPre-spiritualmeditations ofworldly manhas not yet entered the Path. The mind of theworldly man is engrossed in the object of sense,and he experiences no sense of effort in meditatingon these objects. His mind dwells upon them
