Course DescriptionsEDUC772 • Assessment and Learning(EDUG, CIBE)1013 creditsSecond in a series of four integrated courses that, when completed successfully,participants will be eligible to register for an IB Teacher Award. The focus of IBAssessment and Learning will be on these four essential questions. 1) What is therole of assessment in International Baccalaureate? 2) What assessment strategiesand assessment tools are emphasized in all three programs? 3) What assessmentstrategies and assessment tools make the three programs unique? 4) How is assessmentconnected to faith and international mindedness? Prerequisite: EDUC771.EDUC773 • Teaching and Learning(EDUG, CIBE)3 creditsThird in a series of four integrated courses that, when completed successfully,participants will be eligible to register for an IB Teacher Award. The focus of IBTeaching and Learning will be on these five essential questions. 1) What are thelearning strategies that are appropriate to effectively implement the IB programs?2) What teaching strategies, learning activities, and learning resources supportthe learner outcomes of the three IB programs? 3) How do the three IB programssupport the learning needs of all students? 4) What resources support the learneroutcomes of the three IB programs? 5) How can worldview and internationalmindednessbe integrated into teaching and learning? Prerequisites: EDUC771,EDUC772.EDUC774 • Capstone(EDUG, CIBE)1 creditFourth in a series of four integrated courses that, when completed successfully,participants will be eligible to register for an IB Teacher Award. The focus of thecapstone will be on two essential questions: 1) How does reflective practice andcollaborative work support International Baccalaureate standards and practice?2) What experiences can contribute to the learning of others for the purpose ofbecoming better members of the global community? Prerequisites: EDUC771,EDUC772, EDUC773.EDUC782 • Practicum: Emotional/Behavioral Disorders(SPEG)3 creditsExperience working with children or youth from various grade levels who haveemotional/behavioral disorders. The practicum corresponds to a student teachingexperience and involves learners in all aspects of programming in a specialeducation setting, including referral review, assessment, IEP development, placement,and instruction and management of behaviors. Learners are expected todemonstrate all proficiencies required of special education teachers. Learners willalso work with other educational personnel (regular or special education teachers,administrators, school psychologists, etc.) on a consultative/collaborative basis.Graded on an S/U basis. May be taken concurrently with EDUC613, EDUC615,EDUC620, EDUC636. Prerequisites: EDUC605, EDUC610, EDUC655, EDUC660,EDUC670, PSYC600.
