Financeshas received your certification, an authorization for benefits is sent to <strong>Bethel</strong>. TheBusiness Office will submit an invoice for payment to the VA. Receipt of paymentwill take approximately six to eight weeks. If you withdraw from a coursethat was paid by the VA, tuition will be refunded in accordance with acceptedgovernment regulations.Financial AidAll questions regarding financial aid (loans, scholarships, and grants) should bedirected to the Office of Financial Aid at 651.638.6241 or 800.255.8706, ext.6241.Refund Schedule and Withdrawal PolicyTuitionAfter registration, changes made to a student’s schedule must be made in consultationwith academic services, and must be completed online or in writing in theregistrar’s office. Please note that changes may affect financial aid status. Beforecourses begin, a full refund is granted, provided the change is made in writingbefore the day the class begins. Once a class begins, refunds for dropped courseswill be granted according to a sliding scale.Loan Refund ChecksFederal financial aid regulations require that <strong>Bethel</strong> <strong>University</strong> return excess TitleIV money to students. The credit balance that exceeds the current and anticipatedsemester costs (registered semester courses and related fees) will be mailed automaticallyto students within 14 days of the Business Office receiving the funds.<strong>Bethel</strong> is not able to retain current-year Title IV funds for a prior-year balance.Past Due AccountsStudents who are not currently enrolled at <strong>Bethel</strong> and have account balances morethan 60 days past due may be transferred to <strong>University</strong> Accounting Services (UAS).UAS is a campus-based collections service that offers payment plans for studentsnot currently enrolled at <strong>Bethel</strong>. No student who has an account balance withUAS will be considered for re-admittance to <strong>Bethel</strong>.Finance ChargesA finance charge of 1 percent per month is assessed on any charges more than 30days old.Transcript HoldIf payment has not been received, a transcript hold is placed on the student account.A transcript hold prevents an official transcript from being printed by theOffice of the Registrar.22
