Academic InformationTranscriptsTranscripts showing all academic work done to date at <strong>Bethel</strong> are available at theOffice of the Registrar. Official and unofficial transcripts may be obtained fromthe Office of the Registrar at the cost of $2 per transcript. The registrar requiresa written request to release each transcript, in accordance with The Family EducationalRights and Privacy Act of 1974. No information (e.g., grades, credits,honors) will be released over the telephone.<strong>Bethel</strong> Transcript Request form is available at blink.bethel.edu/. Log in and select theForms channel > <strong>Graduate</strong> <strong>School</strong> Programs > <strong>Graduate</strong> Students > <strong>Bethel</strong> TranscriptRequest. A letter including the student’s name, address, <strong>Bethel</strong> student ID number,number of transcripts requested, to whom they should be sent, and the student’ssignature is also acceptable. Indicate if the transcript should be delayed until aspecific course grade or degree is posted on the transcript. Address all transcriptrequests to the Office of the Registrar, 3900 <strong>Bethel</strong> Drive, St. Paul, MN 55112.Allow two working days for processing. A transcript cannot be released if thereis an unpaid balance on the student’s account. Contact the Business Office withaccount questions.To protect privacy, the Office of the Registrar does not encourage sending transcriptsby fax. In an emergency, a transcript can be faxed for a fee of $10 payablein advance. In most cases, it is also necessary to mail the transcript to the institutionor agency requiring an official copy of the student’s transcript. If a transcriptrequest is faxed to <strong>Bethel</strong>, the transcript will be sent out by mail unless otherwiseindicated.Advanced Standing (Transfer Credit)Students who have completed graduate-level courses at other regionally accreditedinstitutions of higher education may receive credit for those courses that areequivalent to work required by their major at <strong>Bethel</strong>. The amount of credit, thecourses to be accepted, and the method of evaluation will be determined by thenature of the courses.Credits earned prior to entering a graduate program at <strong>Bethel</strong> <strong>University</strong> may beaccepted in transfer with the approval of the registrar based upon the evaluationof the program director when:q Official transcript has been received directly by <strong>Bethel</strong>’s <strong>Graduate</strong> <strong>School</strong>.q The transfer credit has been earned at a regionally accredited institution.q The transfer credit is no more than three years old except when approved byprogram director.q The credits are clearly designated as graduate credits. For doctoral programs,the work must have been completed beyond the requirements of a master’sdegree.33
