Course DescriptionsEDUC810 • Curriculum and Instructional Managementand Student Development(EDAD, EDUG)3 creditsExamination of the fundamentals of curriculum design, effective curriculumplanning and implementation, as well as trends, issues, forces, and ideas affectingtoday’s curriculum. Focus is on synthesizing knowledge gained from the curriculumwith knowledge gained from professional experience. Overview of cognitiveand behavioral issues and theories of learning as they affect student performance.Examination and practice of effective techniques for working with culturally andacademically diverse student populations as well as techniques for managing variedtypes of student behavior. Prerequisite: Enrollment in this course requires prior permission ofthe Ed.D program director.EDUC815 • Technology in K–12 Education(EDAD)3 creditsThe growing importance of technology in both the administrative and academicaffairs of an educational enterprise requires a high degree of technical knowledgeand competence in administrative leadership. <strong>School</strong> administrators willdevelop personal computing competence relative to administrative functionsand educational leadership. Includes grounding in administrative and academiccomputing applications and systems, district-wide networking, budgeting, andlegal/moral issues to enable the administrator to guide district policy. Substantialtime is spent hands-on with electronic applications and systems and in visitingprototype educational technology programs.
