There are already successes in improvingthe methods of detection of high quality sperm with good fertility using combination of testsaddressing different functions and compartments of the sperm. Tests addressing integrity ofsperm chromatine structure are able to identify sperm defects not normally detected duringconventional semen analysis. They are highly useful in that their application can avoidcarryover problems reflected in the embryo after fertilization has taken place. While most ofthe investigations were carried out in bovine and equine, the lack of complete informationfor other species has led to extrapolation of knowledge which in some instances has notgiven acceptable results. For this reason, the evaluation of different extender combinations,freezing techniques, and developing new methods of semen evaluation should beundertaken for various species of animals worldwide.11.
