System componentsMotors1FL3 SIMOSTEP stepper motors■ Overview■ Benefits• Low-noise, high-precision operation due to specialmechanical design and the 3-phase microstep procedure• Simple and favorably priced drive concept for high-precisionpositioning tasks in the performance range up to 600 W• Easy handling, particularly during commissioning• No measuring system or measuring system cable required• High acceleration capability to lower speeds• Low-resonance operation with optimum power output due to3-phase microstep procedure.• Step counts of 500, 1000, 5000 and 10,000 per motorrevolution by applying the microstep procedure (adjustablevia FM STEPDRIVE)■ Application• Actuators in general automation systems• Positioning drives in processing plants• Positioning in the basic handling area8Stepper motors are functionally simple servo motors. In terms ofperformance and economy, these motors are the ideal supplementto the position controlled motors 1FT and 1FK. The applicationsin automation systems are varied, and are not restricted tomachine tools. The SIMOSTEP stepper motor can be operated via theFM STEPDRIVE power section. This converts the stepping anddirection signals of the upstream controller into exact angularmovements by appropriate current feeding to the motor windings.■ IntegrationSIMOSTEP 1FL3 with holding brake (optional) ■ Further informationThe holding brake normally fixes the position after the motor currenthas been switched off. In emergencies, such as after powerfailure or EMERGENCY STOP, it stops the drive and thus helpsto maintain safety. Fixing is mainly required in case of torqueload resulting from weight forces, e. g. Z axes in robotics(vertical axis). The SIMOSTEP stepper motors can be used with:• SINUMERIK 802S base line• SIMOTION C230-2• Positioning Modules FM 353 and FM 357-2 together withSIMATIC S7-300• SIMATIC ET 200S 1STEP Stepper ModuleThe SIMOSTEP stepper motor is connected via heavy gaugethreaded joints to internal terminal boxes. The FM STEPDRIVE power section can be used as a linkbetween the controller and the 1FL3 stepper motor.Further information on technical data and ordering data can befound in Catalog NC 60 and in the Interactive Catalog under"Drive Technology/AC Motors".8/78 Siemens PM 10 · 2005
