SIMOTION softwareGeneral information6 ■ OverviewScalable system platformThe SIMOTION system has created a scaleable system platformfor automation tasks, particularly Motion Control applications.The scalability of the system allows you to implement tailor-madeand economic applications.The modular SIMOTION software is perfectly integrated andoffers easy-to-use functions for all phases of the automationprocess.Software categoriesThe software for SIMOTION can be classified into the followingcategories:• Runtime softwareThe following types of Runtime software can be distinguished:- SIMOTION Kernel – Basic functionality- SIMOTION Technology Packages- SIMOTION Function LibraryThe SIMOTION Kernel provides the basic functionality and is acomponent of all SIMOTION devices. The SIMOTION TechnologyPackages and the SIMOTION Function Library as a sectorindependentlibrary offer a modular expansion of the functionality.• Engineering softwareThe SIMOTION SCOUT engineering system provides highperformancetools that provide simple, optimal support for allengineering steps required in the context of machine automation.The SIMOTION CamTool is available as an options packagewhich permits simple creation of cams.The SCOUT engineering system can be used in SIMATICSTEP 7, either with integrated data management and configuration,or as a stand-alone engineering tool.• Additional softwareIn addition to the SIMOTION software, other standard softwarepackages are available which may be required to configurethe complete system, e. g. for HMI.Available software packages• SIMOTION SCOUTSCOUT is the basis for every SIMOTION application andessentially contains the SIMOTION SCOUT engineeringsystem including the STARTER drive commissioning tool, theRuntime software for all SIMOTION hardware platforms andthe SIMOTION Function Library. The SCOUT software packagecomprises the following components:- SCOUT with corresponding license- Authorization disk for SCOUT- SIMOTION Function Library- SIMOTION CamTool without license. The license must beordered separately.The CamTool option package expands SIMOTION SCOUTwith a powerful tool for the graphical creation and optimizationof cams.- SIMOTION DOConCDComplete SIMOTION documentation on CD with comprehensivesearch functions for all documents.- SIMOTION Utilities & ApplicationsFree utilities (e. g. calculation tools, optimization tools, ...)and application examples (ready-to-apply solutions such aswinders, cross cutters or handling)- SIMATIC Net without license- DriveES Basic with license• SIMATIC softwareSTEP 7 as the required basis for SIMOTION SCOUT.• SIMOTION SCOUT StandaloneIf STEP 7 is not available, SCOUT Standalone can be usedwhich contains the STEP 7 components required forSIMOTION.SCOUT Standalone is supplied with the CDs for SIMOTIONSCOUT (see above) as well as an additional CD and authorizationdisk for SCOUT Standalone.• SIMATIC HMI softwareThe following optional software packages are available:- ProTool/Pro and WinCC flexible for implementing HMI onoperator/touch panels- SIMATIC NET for implementing HMI over OPC in Windowsenvironments6/2 Siemens PM 10 · 2005
