Phase noiseIn the specification <strong>of</strong> GSM 900 3 , around the received signal, there is a lot <strong>of</strong>interference due to the adjacent signals.Fig. 4 shows the pr<strong>of</strong>ile <strong>of</strong> the maximum interference signals defined in thespecifications. The power <strong>of</strong> nearest adjacent channel at 200kHz <strong>of</strong>fset from thereceived signal can be as large as –93dBm and the maximum interference powers at400kHz, 600kHz, 1.6MHz and 3MHz <strong>of</strong>fsets are –61dBm, -43dBm, -33dBm and-23dBm. The maximum interference powers at frequency larger than 980MHz orsmaller than 915MHz can be as large as 0dBm. However, since these two interferencesignals are outside the receiver band, most <strong>of</strong> them can be filtered out by the RF filterand they can be ignored in this case. The GSM specifications also define the minimumpower level <strong>of</strong> the received signal to be –102dBm.8
