WWW.SURVIVALEBOOKS.COMFM 1-506Radio frequency energy is generated within the exciterduring normal operation. An inductive capacitivefilter has been incorporated at the input. This will preventenergy from being fed back onto the 28-volt input line.Radio frequency interference on this line could damagethe operation of other electrical accessories. The filter isturned to radio frequencies. It does not offer any appreciableopposition to the flow of 28-volt direct current. The ignition lead and coil assembly constitutes thehigh potential ignition wiring. This assembly incorporatestwo coils fed with high voltage from the twooutputs of the ignition exciter. The coil assemblies functionas spark splitters distributing high voltage to fourigniter plugs. Each coil assembly has one input and twooutputs. The coil windings forma transformer having a1:1 ratio. Any current flowing through either winding willinduce a voltage across the other. Even a shortenedigniter plug will not short out the high-voltage ignitionsignal. The entire wiring harness is shielded andgrounded at airframe potential to suppress radiation ofradio frequency interference.6-7
