Access service standardsThe Archives strives for excellence in its deliveryof services that facilitate access to its records,including reference and digitisation services,exhibitions, publications and websites. TheArchives’ Service Charter sets out the servicesavailable to the public, the standards applyingto each, and the mechanism for comments andcomplaints. The Service Charter is available onthe Archives’ website and detailed information onperformance against Service Charter standards in2010–11 can be found at Appendix G.Disability strategies are incorporated into thedevelopment and continuous improvement ofaccess services. All Archives reading roomsare wheelchair accessible, and researchers areprovided with reading aids, such as reading slopes,magnifying glasses and cushions to support heavyvolumes. The Archives’ exhibition galleries are alsoaccessible for people with a disability. The Archivesis working in accordance with the Web AccessibilityNational Transition Strategy to achieve Level Acompliance with the Web Content AccessibilityGuidelines 2.0 by the end of 2012, and Level AAcompliance by the end of 2015.Report on performance 35
